Bring God the choices and responsibilities you carry. Ask Him for an understanding heart and the humility to learn.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
A prayer brought before God
When God invited Solomon to ask for what he needed, Solomon spoke of his responsibility to lead God’s people. He asked for an understanding heart to discern between good and bad. God was pleased with his request and gave him wisdom. His prayer encourages us to seek understanding that helps us serve others faithfully.
1 Kings 3:5–12Let us pray.
Father, give me an understanding heart for the choices before me.
Help me listen carefully, speak truthfully, and consider the people my decisions will affect.
Keep me willing to learn and ready to admit when I am wrong. Shape my judgement through Your Word, and let kindness and integrity guide the way I act.
Amen.
